Climb to the top of Uhrturm, the medieval clock tower offering a panoramic view of the city. Originally built as a medieval defense tower, the city paid Napoleon a ransom in 1809 to keep it from being destroyed when the other fortifications on the hill overlooking the city were conquered. The clock is unique in that the large hand shows the hour and the small one minutes. The small hand was added much later since the large one could be seen from the town at the bottom of the hill. Those with mobility challenges should take the tram or elevator to the top of the tower. A visit to Uhrturm represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Graz online travel route planner to plot your vacation.

This is probably the biggest tourist attraction in Graz. The view from up here is absolutely amazing. The clock tower itself is a great piece of architecture. It's worth coming up here for sure. We went up in the lift but you can walk up the winding staircase.
Impressive clock tower, probably the most important landmark of the city of Graz! From above you can enjoy in beautiful city views! Definitely worth visiting!
