Trip Planner: Europe / Belgium / Flanders / East Flanders Province / Ghent / Belfry and Cloth Hall (Belfort en Lakenhalle)
Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the upper level of the Gothic belfry at Belfry and Cloth Hall (Belfort en Lakenhalle). As you ascend, you'll pass through different levels, each with its own theme connected to the city's history from the early 14th century onwards. Spend some time exploring hall's exterior, too, which is covered in statuary depicting stories of the people of Ghent, such as a young girl feeding her prisoner father. The hall serves as a perfect introduction to the city, and its central location makes it a popular first stop if you've just arrived. The entry fee is small, and visitors under 25 get a reduced ticket price. Make Belfry and Cloth Hall (Belfort en Lakenhalle) a part of your Ghent vacation plans using our Ghent tour planning site .

Narrow already in the upper outer area but beautiful views of a really charming city from its heart. More than recommended. Children's saddles can be left in the locker without a problem.
Climbing the tower stairs is enjoyable and tiring. The view up top is worth the work to get up but I found the price a little high — 8 Euros. more »
The view from the tower is spectacular. You can see whole Gent city from the tower. It's worth it
We took the lift up but then walked down. What a place. Something at each level to see. They could improve the explanations and the subtitles about the Bell did not always work when telling the story but we got the general idea.
