Che Kung Temple was built in the early 12th century in honour of Che Kung, a military commander of the Southern Song dynasty, whose wartime achievements eventually led him to being revered as a god. Primarily functioning to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers for the Che Kung festival, the temple also attracts tourists with a giant statue of Che Kung himself, as well as a huge drum, a bell, and a fan-bladed wheel of fortune, said to bring good luck if spun three times. Our Hong Kong planning site makes visiting Che Kung Temple and other Hong Kong attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

An alternative temple for those visiting and willing to explore the suburbs of Hongkong. Ensure you do walk around the complex and respect the local customs. (Just ask if needed to)
A well furnished religious attraction in Hong Kong. One of the most visited Taoist temples for Hong Kong people, especially on the third day of Chinese New Year, which has become a tradition for some local citizens. There is an interesting story explaining why this Sung-dynasty general became so famous and was even worshiped as a god. There is a massive statue of this general within the temple and a lot of crafted paintings on the walls around the temple. These paintings are from the Chinese Classics (i.e.The Twenty-four Filial Examplars 二十四孝 and The Thirty-Six Stratagems 三十六計 ). However, there is no direct relationship of these stories with the general worshipped inside the temple.
