  • The most interesting thing to see at Statue Square in Central District is the sole statue which remains here, the bronze figure of Sir Thomas Jackson (1841-1915). This is the work of Italian sculptor Mario Raggi who and was installed upon this location in 1906 when the statue joined others such as Raggi's monument of Queen Victoria (now at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay) and the HSBC lions Steven and Stitt (now in front of the HSBC building). What you see is a depiction of late middle-aged Sir Thomas Jackson, the 3rd Chef Manager of HSBC from 1876 to 1902. He is finely dressed and grasping the front of his overcoat with his left while staring forward. It is good monument to view for those wanting to view some of the historical sites around the Central District. Give it a few minutes while sightseeing in the area
