One of the oldest structures in the region, and the oldest surviving marketplace in the city, Western Market attracts tourists with its status as a protected historical landmark and authentic local marketplace. Among the stores here are a Bavarian-style bakery, a place where you can sample Chinese desserts, several cafes, and souvenir shops stocking traditional Chinese and Hong Kong goods. There is also a bar and restaurant on the top floor, where a sizable function room plays host to dance nights. A rather small building with only a few stalls. There is a florist and model shop on the ground floor among other shops. Note these lower shops don't open mostly till 12pm. The escalators lead up to a mezzanine with many fabric shops selling material by the yard perfect for anyone interested in arts and crafts. The top floor is a restaurant. Use the fire exits to descend floors as the escalators only go up. These are in every corner of the building.
One of the many old buildings that should be renovated, it's such a shame it hadn't been reinvigorated a bit with a more upscale market, as it stands it's quite grubby. Location is so central, it could have become so much. Connectivity to buildings around could be vastly improved, and it would be a central location
