Guia Fortress, Macau

4.2
Head up to the city's highest point to see Guia Fortress, a 17th century hilltop fortress. The fort and chapel were built between 1622 and 1638 during the times of Portuguese colonial rule, the buildings display a distinctly Iberian architectural style. The lighthouse here, constructed later between 1864 and 1865, was the first Western-style lighthouse in east Asia, and it offers extensive views of the city below. The whole complex forms part of the Historic Centre of Macau World Heritage Site, with its distinctive, well-preserved architecture and impressive frescoes. • It is quite a slope until it arrives far from the center. It is recommended for those who are confident in their physical strength. It is close to the Royal Hotel and The Gia Hotel.

  • The slope is steep, but it was a good idea to go up if you have time. I recommend the good time of the season.
