Hac Sa (Black Sand) Beach, Macau

#2 of 7 in Outdoors in Macau
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
As an escape from the glitzy casino world of Macau, Hac Sa (Black Sand) Beach can serve as a spot to relax and recharge. Good onsite facilities take the hassle out of your trip and leave you free to go for a swim or have a snooze on the shore. However, if visiting for a glimpse of the beach's eponymous black sands, prepare for disappointment: years of erosion and overuse have left them closer to muddy brown than black. • The name Hac sa comes from the sand lying on the beach, black sand. I see it is closer to rough mud than sand. So the water too not clear but dark. The beach is long and beautiful. There are changing room in the toilet and outdoor shower. Some foods are sold at near the street and couple of restaurants are also a good choice.
  • Hac Sa (Black Sand) is Macau's only real public beach. It is located at the southern end of Coloane and is made up of a mix of yellow and black sand - hence the name Black Sand Beach. Unfortunately, the sea is not clear and the beach sand is course, a bit hard on the feet, making it somewhat disappointing for beach goers compared to what you can elsewhere throughout this region of East and Southeast Asia. In the end, Has Sa Beach is really a place for locals and will not likely impress foreign visitors much. However, it is fine to visit if you are in Macau for a while and looking for outdoor and leisure places to visit away from the main sightseeing areas.
