Place a bet on a speedy greyhound at Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome, where you can watch the dogs training and preparing for races at one of the last such venues in Asia. Local vendors across the street sell snacks, though you can also bring in your own food and drinks. Place a small bet to keep the stakes low, and then witness the greyhounds chase the rabbit-shaped bait around the track, with the one grabbing it first deemed the victor of the race. • I was out of professional interest in Macau and have to say that, no matter where in the world should avoid commercial dog racing. The suffering of animals in the teams is extreme, the animals are killed for their life and for the track virtually without exception. Macau has closed the doors now fortunately, there alone hundreds of greyhounds are killed each year because they were too old and thus generated a profit. In many other States, this is similar, in many federal States of the United States, Ireland and GB. An unfortunately I can not welcome here - even when in the middle ages were a beautiful custom - one has abolished is still (unfortunately??) No nice tourist attraction should be to kill animals for fun and to suffer and as a tourist, you should avoid these events.

  • The repugnant, vile toxic nature of this hideous place where young dogs are exterminated if they aren’t profitable enough means it’s now closed. Thank Holy God  more »

  • Stop abusing animals!!! #FuckChina
  • Terrible place, mercifully closed now, thanks to Anima and many other charities. 18,000 greyhounds died here since it's beginnings in the early 1960's. injuries were rife, and the conditions the hounds were kept in were dire. Like a terrible jail, barred kennels where the hounds were kept unless being raced. At the time writing, only 21 greyhounds remain, and nearly 500 have been rescued, awaiting homes in Europe, America and Australia. The sooner greyhound racing is stopped Worldwide the better.
