  • It is a whitish building with a profound feeling adjacent to Senado Square. There are many restaurants and souvenirs in Senado Square.

  • The Holy House of Mercy of Macau (Portuguese: Santa Casa da Misericórdia; Chinese: 仁慈堂大樓), is a historic building in Senado Square, Macau, China. Established as a branch of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia, it was first built in 1569 on the orders of the Bishop of Macau. It was a medical clinic and several other social welfare structures in early Macau. It later served as an orphanage and refuge for widows of sailors lost at sea. It is part of the Historic Centre of Macau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • This is one of a handful of World Heritage buildings at Senado Square. The building was constructed in 1569 and has been historically used as a girls orphange and a public health clinic. The building is presently used as a museum housing a nice collection of religious artefacts, porcelain and other historic items of interest. This lesser-known attraction at Senado Square opened in 2001 and entrance fee is MOP 5 per person. There are three rooms with display pieces and a lovely balcony you can visit here. You can pick up a blue booklet at the payment desk which has information about the various pieces found within the collection. Do make sure to return the booklet as it is not a take-home piece. While the collection here is interesting to see, what we like most about the Holy House of Mercy is the balcony, which provides good views of Senado Square. This is very nice when there are festivals and you want to see the decorations around the square from a higher vantage point. Due to the very convenient location, you can visit the Holy House of Mercy and the small museum here quite comfortably in 15 minutes. During cooler months we often spend an extra 15-20 minutes extra just admiring the views of the square and its colourful buildings. Hint: At night, there are soft yellow lights which illuminate the Holy House of Mercy making it nice for picture taking after dark if you intend to spend time on Senado Square.
