Oriental Pearl Tower (Dongfang Mingzhu) both shapes the beauty of Shanghai's cityscape and offers visitors impressive views from its observation areas. Completed in 1994, the 468 m (1,535 feet) high tower features 11 connected spheres and contains a variety of attractions and activities inside its enormous columns and orbs, including a Municipal History Museum, observation decks, and an elegant 25-room hotel. Travel between levels in massive double-decker elevators, and visit the rotating restaurant in the second highest sphere.   • This is once in a lifetime experience. Everyone who is visiting the city shall take some time off and visit this place for sure. The 230 U ticket fee seems too high but once reach the transparent deck it is worth it. The glass deck is the main attraction here and other than that the views from the upper deck are mesmerizing. There are few souvenir shops also available to make your trip more memorable. Also within the tour you can visit a couple of museums below.
  • Do this first! Wonderful museum of Shanghai’s past and future. This museum provides information on the history of Shanghai from a small fishing village to modern day. The second floor has an excellent exhibition that is broken out by historical neighborhood. There are 12 urban preservation sites and 32 suburban preservation sites. You can learn about each one at this exhibit. This provides great context for touring as it and shares the complex history of the cities areas. Don’t miss the fourth floor micro lite exhibition of the cities planned construction and growth.
