Previously a grand mansion, Pavillon de Vendome is now the home of a museum displaying ancient and contemporary paintings, photography, and other artwork. Admire rare, 17th- and 18th-century paintings and sculptures. The mansion is an example of ancient Classical architecture and was registered as a historical monument in 1914. The central fountain in the museum's French garden is especially well-preserved.   It will take about 10 minutes to see everything and that’s if you’re over 75. The garden might be more impressive in warmer weather.  more »

  Pavillion is beautiful but quite small and had very little on exhibit. Garden is quaint and had some shade on a wickedly hot day. Fine if your nearby but not worth a long walk from central Aix...  more »

  If you happen to pass by, have a look at this nice 17 century private hotel that belonged to the duc de Vendôme, Antoine Matisse. There is a museum inside that regularly hosts different exhibitions. The gardens surrounding the house are great during the summer.

  These lovely traditional formal gardens were on the route from our hotel to the centre of Aix, so we stopped off a couple of times. There are lots of benches to sit on, and it's a nice tranquil spot.
