Garden · Nature / Park
Les Hortillonnages d'Amiens, also known as the "Floating Gardens," make a spectacular patchwork of 300 hectares (1.6 square miles). Surrounded by the Somme and Avre rivers, the floating gardens have been cultivated since the Middle Ages. The gardens are in a marshy area surrounded by 40 miles of canals sometimes called "Little Venice of the North." You can walk along the footpaths or see the gardens from a boat called the Barques à Cornet. • Definetly my favourite place in Amiens. It is nice cozy place in city centre. The paths are narrow and surronded by water from both sides which remind me of the swamps scene in LOR movies.
  • To skip the line waiting for the guided boat tours, on the other end of the park at 21 Impasse Marcel, from the same organization you can rent a boat and row yourself through the gardens. This offers much more autonomy and is a fun and good exercise.
