Trip Planner: Europe / France / Centre-Val de Loire / Eure-et-Loir / Chartres / La Maison Picassiette
Covered from floor to ceiling with mosaics, La Maison Picassiette is a house decorated with glass, stone, and ceramic all by one man named Raymond Isidore. Not only are the walls, floors, exterior, and ceilings covered in mosaics--the beds, furniture, and stove are, too. You can even walk on several floors and walkways covered with mosaics made from broken pieces of marble. Peruse the garden walls for more mosaic motifs at the home called "Picassiette," meaning "Picasso of the Plate." C’est génial,la patience de cet homme est impressionnante, de l’art brut ...tout est recouvert pas terminé hélas more »It's awesome, the patience of this man is impressive, raw art ... everything is covered not finished alas
Curiosité incontournable dans la Cité. Un très bon moment à passer pour compléter la visite de la ville. Lieu de sérennité et de curiosités. more »Curiosity unmissable in the City. A great time to spend to complete the tour of the city. Place of serenity and curiosities.
Very unusual attraction on the edge of town, walkable by following along the river and then using the road signs. A variety of single storey buildings covered in glass/ pottery shards and walled country cottage gardens. Best to go early and avoid public holidays as it's long and narrow, small buildings and would easily get crowded. Very helpful/ informative curator/ ticket manager.
Lovely place to visit for fans of naive art. Nothing is really around so be sure to bring some food and drink if you plan a break there.
