Memorial de l'Armistice
Memorial de l'Armistice is a war memorial commemorating where the Germans signed the armistice that ended World War I in 1918. During World War II, Adolf Hitler deliberately chose the same location to sign the Second Armistice at Compiègne after Germany won the Battle of France. You can visit four main attractions: the Glade of the Armistice with a statue of Ferdinand Foch, the Alsace-Lorraine Memorial, the Clearing of the Armistice, also called Rethondes Clearing, and a replica of a train car. See Memorial de l'Armistice and all Compiegne has to offer by arranging your trip with our Compiegne trip planner.

This is an incredibly humbling location. What's the history for both World War I and World War II as well as the impact both had on one another and the area. The nearby museum related to the site is quite informative Well Done Yet simple and straightforward. I highly recommend going here for anyone interested even remotely in history

Really interesting museum with many of the information boards and audiovisual commentary available in English. The museum was undergoing expansion of the information boards and some audiovisual improvements on our visit so some of the new exhibits were unable to be viewed nonetheless it was a really interesting museum and well worth a visit. The outside park area also had regeneration work taking place that restricted access to areas of the park however it’s clear to see that the visitor experience will be even better once completed. We visited in September 2018
