Trip Planner: Europe / France / Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur / Bouches-du-Rhone / Marseille / Memorial De La Marseillaise
La Marseillaise is the patriot song of the revolution and the adopted French national anthem. The Memorial De La Marseillaise is a tribute to the past and an inspiration for the future. The museum divides history into three sections – Pre-Revolution, the Revolution and Post-Revolution. In the Pre-Revolution section, you see newspapers and other peripherals that showcase Marseille before the revolution took place, it also shows you the lead up to the revolution. In the next section, you are animatedly introduced to the heroes of the revolution and the struggles they faced. In the last section, you are taken through a very special presentation of birth of the French Republic. Memorial De La Marseillaise Reviews
I tried ringing the bell between the door and the iron Gates and got no answer. Eventually caught someone's attention in the yard area and they beckoned me in but how to get in? Put your hands on thro... more »
Ce musée est déjà quasiment introuvable, au milieu de la rue Thubaneau, bien loin des lieux touristiques et dans une ruelle bien sombre. Les horaires d'ouverture en font un musée quasiment invisitable... more »This museum is already almost not found in the middle of the Thubaneau Street, well away from the tourist places and in a dark alley. Opening hours make an almost.. Museum. We still planned to take advantage of the European heritage days to finally discover this memorial. We well had taken care to ensure in advance of participation this Museum in these days and the opening of the latter... and despite two attempts, we systematically found door closed, without any words, any explanation... It is to wonder if there is actually a collection to discover beyond the metal flag which adorns the façade.
Very mediocre reception by people who obviously know nothing about, poorly designed Museum (newsstand/posters without explanation, listening to versions of the song before any history of said song, audio disfunctional material) and tapes sometimes hardly audible in both rooms.
I visited twice this place where I was very well received with my Japanese customer. Thank you
