One of the city’s most famous monuments, Arc de Triomphe honors those who died fighting in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and consists of four main sculptures. This location also marks the central spot where the avenues radiate out of Place de l'Étoile. See the names of French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Inside the monument, you can view a permanent exhibit conceived by artist Maurice Benayoun and architect Christophe Girault exploring the symbolism of this and other national monuments in regards to war and peace. Beneath its vault lies the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" from World War I. Another great place to visit in Paris. I love the walk from the Champs Elysees to the end of the road with all shops in between. The Arc looks spectacular and you can go to the top of it and get a... more »

Wonderful place to visit in Paris!!! This historic site was very easy to visit. Understand you have to climb a lot of stairs to reach upper floors (where the gift shop is located) and the terrace. But, good Lord, what a spectacular place to view Paris on a clear afternoon!! Epic views of the Eiffel Tower. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Very easy and quick to buy a ticket and visit in mid-February. Restrooms are available on the top floors but you can only urinate in the men’s room; no sit down or squat toilets so make sure you are good for at least a couple hours. Stairs for up and down so you don’t have to fight other people to enter and exit. Very safe, a must see!!!

Beautiful, majestic, and a must visit landmark in Paris! The carvings are very intricate, and there are 4 big ones on the faces of the legs of the arch. I highly recommend going up, though the climb is up and down a narrow spiralling staircase (though an elevator is available). From the top, you can see the Eiffel Tower and the surrounding neighborhoods very clearly. If you enjoy photography, the streets that branch out in all directions from the arch makes for incredible shots. Budget 30-60 minutes for your visit, more if you spend more time taking photos.
