The peak of Montagne Sainte Victoire is called Pic des Mooches, and measures 1,011 m (3,317 ft) high. Paul Cézanne famously painted the mountain from his window. The limestone peak, dotted with coniferous trees, is a popular spot for hikers, trekkers, and campers. It can be chilly near the peak, so dress accordingly.   • Caught the 110 public bus from Aix En Provence (stop is just around the corner from the main bus station) a return ticket cost a couple of Euro. You can ask the bus driver to drop you pretty much...  more »
  • We took the D17 from Aix, which runs along the southern edge. The weather was a bit rainy, and the mountain was sometimes shrouded in clouds, but there were great views from the stops along the road.
