The story of the capture of Pegasus Bridge is well covered at Pegasus Memorial, where exhibits include the original Pégasus Bridge and a Horsa Glider. This battle was a remarkable achievement of the Glider Pilot regiment and the 6th British Airborne. Several monuments to the 6th British Airborne are beside the bridge. To actually visit the site of the glider landings brings home the skill of the three pilots who landed beside the bridge on the night of 5th/6th June 1944. The museum is exceptionally well laid out an... more »

This memorial to the bravery, boldness and a certain amount of luck for three gliders which landed in a small area without smashing into one another is very well done with large stones demarking where... more »

Stunningly detailed and sympathetically presented. There is an entry fee but it's well worth the cost. A small cinema sets the scene with a short film showing archive material. Excellent displays inside and fascinating objects outside, including the original Pegasus Bridge, artillery and even a glider. Afterwards, its worth the very short walk to the current bridge which spans the beautiful river and is designed as a replica of the original. Helpful, friendly staff create a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere.

Memorial of our Parachute Regiment colleagues, friends and Family to be just a very small part of that is very VERY humble when you just try and think what they faced when they left England and landed right next to the bridge then they had to fight for their lives and capture the Pegasus bridge against all odds without favour or respect from the German forces That is what we need to tell our children of today and educate them in the Schools, All Schools in the United Kingdom. As if it was not for our armed forces during the conflicts of TWO World Wars there would be NO British Kingdom to talk about in fact you would not have Freedom of Speech or even Freedom.
