Must see · Cemetery · Tourist Spot
Pay your respects at Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, a conglomeration of war graves dedicated to soldiers killed during the D-Day invasions and the subsequent Battle of Normandy. The fierce combat that followed the Allied landing on the shores of France in 1944 left many dead on both sides, and this cemetery serves as the final resting place for more than 2,000 Canadian troops. Wander the quiet garden grounds designed and maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and view the neat rows of headstones and ornate crosses stretched out before you. Take a quiet moment of reflection at one of the on-site chapels, or simply climb up to one of the viewing platforms for a better view over the cemetery and surrounding countryside. You can use the website to find a specific name or grave, if you wish. Make Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery a part of your Reviers vacation plans using our Reviers vacation planner.

  • just a kilometer off the beaten coastal path sits this gorgeous, well maintained, and unfortunately quite large Canadian war cemetery. always a sobering experience  more »
  • Really impressive cemetary, quiet on the hill between the fields. We thank those guys from Canada, they gave us back our freedom.
  • Beautiful and touching. Flowers and individual personal inscriptions and access to walk around and read headstones has a powerful and personal touch. Unfortunately the USA Omaha cementary is pristine and perfect with crosses aligned in unbelievable unison, but no public access, no flowers and apparently no personal inscriptions leaves one somewhat disconnected to what these men fought for.
