Saint Mihiel American Cemetery, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon

Saint Mihiel American Cemetery houses the remains of many of those who lost their lives fighting in World War I. Constructed soon after the war, the site includes a chapel that overlooks a large central pool. Note the exquisite bronze screen at the chapel's entrance. The stained glass windows show the unit insignias worn by American troops sent to fight in Europe during World War I, and the flags of the principal allied nations hang behind the altar.
