The third largest lake in Central Europe, Lake Constance (Bodensee) is on the Rhine and has shores in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Within the lake, however, no borders exist--making the lake a cause for many disputes. You can stay out of the fray, though, and go for a swim, soak up the sun on the shore, or bike or hike along the lake. With many towns along the shores, you'll find plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy the local cuisines. The lake has 11 islands, some of which you can visit by boat. Was a good day trip for lunch. Had some good views. It’s hot though in June. Parking can be difficult so plan on walking from parking to city center. more »
