Flughafen Tempelhof, Berlin

4.3
#19 of 193 in Museums in Berlin
Iconic due to the enormous canopied hangers that protected passengers from the elements when boarding or disembarking the plane, Flughafen Tempelhof is now Berlin's largest public park. The main terminal buildings and hangers play host to numerous events, conferences, and fairs, such as fashion tradeshows and concerts. The size makes this an ideal location for competitive sports, like the Berlin Marathon. Enjoy a day on the green and visit the massive architectural wonders that once represented the world's largest, most advanced airport. Keep your eyes open for species of birds, insects, and plant life that were close to being endangered, but have now begun to reclaim the airport's land. Put Flughafen Tempelhof and other Berlin attractions into our Berlin online trip itinerary planner , and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Meanwhile, unfortunately, very much declined, the tour stream that visits this monument of the city of Berlin. Should one still feel like it steeped in history!!

  • ... At a time in Berlin still had a functioning airport the airport was called. And a time when one was still worth a bit as a "passenger," it was not ostensibly about pretending to the customer that he gets maximum performance for minimal price. We had booked a guided tour with a look behind the scenes and we really liked it. A lot of what we heard and saw we already knew, some things were new. Our guide did his thing quite well, which we liked very much that he spoke quite neutrally about the history of the location. Unfortunately, the many guides do not get on the line that they should take a back seat to their personal views. A bit critical was the search for a parking space in the area, there are quite parking facilities all around, but they are very comically managed, but this suits Berlin, unfortunately.

  • An incredibly interesting and super-historic building, a must when visiting Berlin. Really worth doing the guided tour (which is available through English), 2 hours of intrigue and rich history. Lars was a great tour guide!
  • Amazing historical venue, impressive building. The park itself is a really beautiful place to come and relax, walk or run. Dog friendly, also! If you want to visit the Hangar, beware you can do so only in organized tours (German or English) which would be better to buy or research online in advance.
