Discover the soul of Guadeloupe through art and the tradition of rum-making at Musee du Rhum, covering 300 years of history. A video shot at the museum's distillery walks you through the process of rum-manufacturing; later, you'll have the chance to sample the high-quality product. Walk through the rest of the museum's idiosyncratic collection, which includes a gallery of 180 cases of insects, 40 models of tall ships, and a sand table representing a map of Guadeloupe. This quaint, quirky attraction appeals to your inner historian and your inner hedonist in equal measure. Lovely museum. Information about the production of Rum is available in English and extensive. Added bonus are exhibitions of dozens of models of sailboats and (for some reason) hundreds of butterflies. For the rum tasting you just get a cup and can drink whatever you like in whatever (reasonable) quantities you like. The people working there are superbly friendly and speak English. Definitely worth a visit.
Friendly people and good rum.
