Established as Imperial Forest Research Institute in 1906, Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun, is a premier institution under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE). Styled in Greeko Roman Architecture by C.G. Blomfield, the main building is a National Heritage which was inaugurated in 1929The Institute's history is vertually synonymous with the evolution and development of scientific forestry, not only in India, but over the entire Indian sub-continent. Set in a lush green estate spread over 450 hectares, with the outer Himalaya forming its back drop, the Institute's main building is an impressive edifice, marrying Greco-Roman and Colonial styles of architecture, with a plinth area of 2.5 equipped laboratories,library, herbarium, arboreta, printing press and experimental field areas for conducting forestry research, quite in keeping with the best of its kind anywhere in the world. Its museums, in addition to being a valuable source of scientific information, are a major attraction for tourists.

  • 5 star for place. A large building with his great history a gift from the Britishers to india. INR 40 Ticket for museum. And 10 rs. For entry fees in main gate. Parking fees extra if you have own vehicle and an I.D is must for entry. Without i.d they don't allow.
  • Forest Research Institute of India Popularly Known as FRI was established in 1906. This place is open for the visitors. Identity cards are Checked on entries. You have to pay extra if you are carrying a DSLR with you ( Just 50 Buck's) This place is a beauty it self, It has number of museums to visit. Best place to visit with friends & family. Its a must visit place
