Duomo di Sant'Andrea, Amalfi

4.7
Remodeled many times since the ninth century, Duomo di Sant'Andrea is home to the Crypt of St. Andrew. Two crosses--one a 13th-century wooden crucifix, the other mother of pearl brought from the Holy Land--represent two different periods in the cathedral's history. The bronze doors of the church were cast in the city of Constantinople before 1066, making them the city's earliest architectural feature of post-Roman manufacture. Visit the gardens, where arches, colonnades, and sculptures blend in with the colorful landscaping. • It's worth visiting climbing the more than 59 steps. Inside frescoes and antique pieces, and finally the Cathedral.

  • In Italy we are full of churches and I don't always like to visit them, but this is really a show! Starting from the staircase in front of the Cathedral, very scenic, which leads under the portika, already beautiful. To enter you pay a ticket of 3 euros that allows you to see the cloister, the Cathedral and the crypt, money really well spent. The cloister is arabesque style, beautiful, and just as beautiful is the interior of the Cathedral, but what impressed me the most is the crypt, beautiful wherever you look at it. Unmissable

  • Away from the lemons and coast stands this highly impressive architectural feat. It dominates one of the main piazzas of Amalfi and the top of it can be seen from the coastline. Though we did not venture inside, the exterior architecture is impressive enough. Definitely stop there for a photo at the very least!
  • Beautiful church. Both in and out side. The priest is very nice and it is real pleasure to listen to him.
