  • Best place to stroll around and admire the most beautiful scenery, or sit a while and enjoy a coffee or something a little stronger.
  • We enjoyed Assisi with our group. The Basilica was amazing and a must see. What our group didn't enjoy was the local restaurants and some of their shady practices. BEWARE of Ristorante Pizzeria. It was a short walk up the hill from the basilica, but not worth the Euro's. Food was fine, if you don't mind everyone getting their food at different times, as much as 5 minutes, depending on your order. We ordered two gnocchi dishes, one with and one without meat, they just made both with meet and argued when our vegetarian didn't get what he ordered. The real fun came with the check, they "accidently" mischarged us, but amazingly, every accident was a high mistake, never a low one. Cokes were $4 each, until a nice woman gave us a menu to prove they had $3 written there. The best part was the $15 "Cover Charge" 2,5 euros per person, just to eat there. Only the locals were able to order tap water and we were charged $2 for a bottle we could have walked 10 meters and picked up for $1 at a local shop (with no "cover"). We left our money and walked away, only to have the "owner" run after us and tell us something in Italian, but then just walked away. We didn't short the bill, even the cover, so we had no clue what it was about. Just avoid that place at all cost.
