San Damiano, Assisi

4.8
St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecosystems, is said to have been praying at San Damiano in 1205, when the structure was in disrepair. While kneeling, he saw a vision that told him to rebuild the church. The interior of the cathedral has a single nave, one circular rose window, and a wooden crucifix dating back to 1637. Although St. Francis' history here attracts visitors, it is primarily a place devoted to humble tranquility. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Assisi trip simple and quick.

  • Very collected, you breathe a spirituality as a few parts. The tour is perfectly organized, we visit the places where he lived S. Chiara. A little tricky to reach it, but it's definitely worth it.

  • Small, peaceful and prayerful. Note that it is closed between noon and 2 p.m.
  • It is a nice place and paintings are really meaningful and speak about lovely creation of God , adding to that there is a crucifixion and it is a mysterious one from right to left when you move you can see the serious and smiling face of Jesus
