Campanile di Giotto, Florence
Climb more than 400 steps to the top of Campanile di Giotto to enjoy views of Florence. At a height of almost 90 m (280 ft), the 14th-century tower features seven antique bells and is considered a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic architecture. Admire the ornate detail of the tower's exterior styling, which includes several reliefs, statues, and carved panels. Wear good walking shoes for the hike to the top, because the stairs are narrow and steep. Your admission ticket also provides entry to the adjoining cathedral, baptistery, and museum. Price €18, single ticket also worth X the Museum of the Duomo, the Dome (only on reservation), the Baptistery, the crypt (in fact they are the foundations with the remains of Roman domus) of the Duomo, the Duomo (admission free even without a ticket). Since the Duomo can be visited from 10.00, I recommend the ' Dawn Breakers ' to climb the steeple first thing (as I did). The ascent is simple in the first part, and gradually gets tighter as you approach the top. In Total The steps are 414, so for many but not for everyone. Arriving at the top you exit on the terrace and you have a magnificent view of the square, and all over Florence. Obviously it is one of the city's symbolic landmarks and a MUST x chi, like me, loves churches and bell towers!
The best way to see Brunelleschi's dome close up without being ON it. A long climb to the top. Although fewer stairs I found it more taxing that the climb to Il Duomo itself. more »
A quick and tiring climb. The bell tower is not as artsy as the dome but has a lot of history. The view is also very amazing at the top, with a few stops/floors. Worth visiting during the visit to the dome and cathedral. Not much wait to go up.
Most beautiful area of Florence, city center. Must vosit this beautiful city for lots of shopping around, specially leather goods.
