The beating heart of the city's political life since the 14th century, photogenic Piazza della Signoria is lined by modern cafes and packed with Renaissance sculptures. This lively L-shaped square is named after the massive Romanesque fortress-palace that overlooks it. A favorite meeting place of Florentines, the square is like an open-air museum of art with its numerous statues, including a copy of Michelangelo's sculpture of David. An ornate fountain features a large figure of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. The square serves as a gateway to the Uffizi Gallery, which displays more of the city's art. Piazza della Signoria Reviews
In Italy, in the square, in the heart of things; enjoy. Try to go from November to April, so much less crowded. Soak it all in! more »
The building looks like a fairytale castle, and the piazza is the perfect place to sit and admire the sunset over Florence while you enjoy an espresso coffee. more »
This is a must do while in Florence. We visited during daylight and at night. Great art and full of history crowded both times we visited. Take your time enjoy the day many cafe's to have a bite especially in the evenings.
It’s a MUST. You have to visit this place and watch the statues in the square. The sunset is beautiful with the light reflecting all monuments. Sometimes a man is playing song in piano or other instruments and you feel like if you were part of the history.
