In the historic heart of Genoa, Via Giuseppe Garibaldi is one of the more ornate and grandiose streets in all of Italy, complete with stonework and vivid colors. Sixteenth- through 18th-century palaces with hidden courtyards and gardens line the 250 m (820 ft) long road. While some of these palazzos are private property, you can visit the ones with museums, galleries, and civil organizations. Antique shops and gift stores also dot the street. • This is a lovely street in Genoa with some gorgeous architecture all along it. The place is very picturesque in an otherwise industrial city.  more »
  • This deserves its UNESCO heritage listing. Every building is worth a look and some allow you into their courtyards.  more »
