  • An absolute jewel, both for the refined architecture and decorations of the façade, the elegance of the polychrome bands at its sides, the majestic interiors in their apparent simplicity but precious, that for the position occupying the top of the tufaceous cliff of Orvieto. The Duomo stands out in the city skyline, visible miles away and recalls its beauty and the cliff that hosts it. The Duomo stuns with its magnificence when you approach it from the narrow streets of the city and when the tourist sees it in its entire grace and beauty, like a flower that emerges in a stone garden. Magnificent, unmissable! I don't get tired of admiring it every time I go to Orvieto.

  • This beautiful Gothic cathedral is reputed to possess the most beautiful façade of Italy, and the truth is that it is more than deserved. It was built during the 13TH and 14TH centuries by order of Pope Urbano IV to commemorate the miracle that occurred in Bolsena in 1263, when during the celebration of a Eucharist manó blood of a host. Its impressive façade is embellished with mosaics and sculptures and a magnificent rose window. Inside the chapel of San Brizio, decorated by the Blessed Angelico and Benozzo Gozzoli, as well as the chapel of the Corporals, also magnificently decorated, where is the reliquary of the body, reminiscent of the facade of the cathedral. This magnificent work is one of the objectives that can not be lost in any way if we find ourselves in the area. The entrance to the cathedral and the chapel of San Brizio, which is acede from the outside, costs €4. Visiting hours depend on the season; Weekdays Open all year round at 09.30 and close between 17.00 and 19.00 hours. The holidays open at 13.00 and closes between 16.30 and 17.30 hours.

  • This beautiful Gothic cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is a magnificent building dominating the skyline of Orvieto. The front facade is gloriously decorated with intricate golden mozaic. I just have to say I admired this cathedral so deeply and wondering how a small town like Orvieto has such a grand cathedral. The answer: five Popes had resided in this town.
  • This is the Central point of this lovely town and should not be missed. The beautiful stain glassed windows are amazing and the ornate facade glows when the sunlight falls on it. A must see!
