Cupola di San Pietro is the dome atop St. Peter’s Basilica, one of the most famous attractions in the area. You can climb to the top of the dome for breathtaking views of the city, but be warned that it is a challenging ascent. An elevator will take you up the first section. To reach the very top, you climb a spiral staircase without a handrail. Visitors early in the day will find the shortest lines.
