Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Veneto / Province of Venice / City of Venice / Venice / Doge's Palace
Take a behind-the-scenes look at how Venice used to be run at Doge's Palace, which once served as the residence of the doges, the city's chief magistrates. Regarded as a masterpiece of Venetian Gothic architecture, the palace is now a popular museum, attracting more than 1 million visitors each year. Works by such artists as Titian, Veronese, Tiepolo, and Tintoretto fill the interior. You can explore the monumental council chambers and richly decorated residential suites where major decisions affecting the city's fate were once made. Look in on the grim prison cells where the doges' political opponents were often locked away. A ticket for the nearby museums also grants access to this palace. Explore your ticket options online, and book well in advance to avoid standing in long lines. Our Venice trip itinerary planner makes visiting Doge's Palace and other Venice attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Doge's Palace reviews
If you visit ONE thing in Venice, make sure it's this one. The Doge's Palace is absolutely stunning inside and out. We booked a time slot (12-4 pm) with the Venice Unica card, and frankly, it was a.... more »
Luckily we visited at the beginning of July when tours and monuments were opening up again. While we did have a guide (which I recommend to not miss anything) the line to enter was not terribly long..... more »
The Doge's palace is probably the must visit tour in Venice. Especially if you are a fan of medieval / renaissance weapons you should find the armory very interesting, as almost of the armors and weaponry are extremely well-preserved. However I still feel like the high price is not entirely justified (paid 20 euros to enter) and the queue to enter may be quite long, so consider booking online.
Absolutely incredible! I'm not much into the touristy museums but THIS PLACE WAS DEFINITELY WORTH IT! Was so amazing to get a feel for and experience how the leaders of Venice governed from here over 500 years ago! Incredible! The architecture, art, and even prison are so cool!
