Explore the one-of-a-kind collection of kimonos at Itchiku Kubota Art Museum. Itchiku Kubota's kimonos employ dyeing and decorating techniques that have been virtually obsolete since the 17th century. The artist also designed the entire hillside museum in a style inspired by Gaudi; stroll the gardens to fully appreciate the scenic location, with views of Mt. Fuji and the nearby lake. As a bonus treat, don't forget to have a cup of warm tea in the adjacent tea house. • The kimonos are exquisite. Well worth a visit. There was also a video which showed how they were made - very impressive.  more »

  • Very beautiful kimono art pieces. A worthy visit for art lovers and fashion oriented people. The cafe is really beautiful, but the prices are steep.
  • A very nice museum with a very nice garden. You can get into part of the garden for free. In late November it was very beautiful with the autumn colors. The kimonos exposed inside are real art works, but I find the entrance fee a bit pricey. After the visit in the museum you can walk in the part of the garden on the back of the building, which is also nice and without crowds because no one goes there apparently. The architecture of the museum is also unique. Worth a visit if you're spending some time in Kawaguchiko, maybe in the afternoon when the Fuji is not visible and the sun has gone down. It takes about 40min/1h to visit.
