Motosuko Lake affords picturesque views of the unspoiled natural environment, with Mt. Fuji rising formidably in the background. The deepest, clearest, and westernmost of the Fuji Five Lakes, it was originally part of a much larger lake, which a 9th-century lava flow then split into three. An image from its photogenic banks notably features on the 1,000-yen bill. Though comparatively undeveloped, the lake offers plenty of outdoor activities, with extensive hiking opportunities, fishing, and boating, as well as lakeside sites for campers to spend the night.     We stopped at a small viewpoint to enjoy the view which is shown on the back of the 1000 yen note. It’s stunning. You just need a few minutes here as there’s nothing else to do and few parking spaces.  more »

    I went here during winter period and it almost nobody here in the morning. I walk from the Motosu View Lake Hotel to this place and it only took me few minutes walk to get here.  more »
