Landmark · Tourist Spot
Take a walk down Kawagoe Ichibangai Shopping Street, a commercial and touristic street lined with traditional Japanese storehouse architecture. After destruction by a fire in 1893, the city's wealthy merchants rebuilt the street using the fireproof design of storehouses, with tiled roofs and a separation between living areas and storage rooms. Stop by the many quaint shops selling locally made treats, souvenirs, and trinkets, and take a break at one of the restaurants for a bowl of ramen and some tempura.
