Standing at the entrance into a World Heritage-listed complex of temples, Shinkyo Bridge is an ornate vermilion-lacquered bridge allowing visitors to cross the Daiya River. The current structure dates back to 1636, although a bridge probably crossed this river in the same spot much before that date. Pay a small fee to cross the bridge, appreciate its architecture, and snap a few memorable shots. Best view when i came on autumn season. No need to pay to enjoy its beauty.. u can see it even from inside bus. I took walk in one freezing morning to here.. and its amazing when at 7 am no one's there..

A very cool little place. The bridge is situated next to a more modern bridge, but despite this has very good views of the river and the surrounding hills and mountains. Also has some shrine-related merchandise at a small shop next to it, but this stuff is less tacky, most of the things there are worth the money. Has a very zen-like feel to it. A definite visit if your in Nikko.
