Hachiman-bori, Omihachiman

4.1
The 4.75 km (2.95 mi) long canal of Hachiman-bori was established in the late 16th century, offering visitors historical and picturesque views of the city's old-world infrastructure. Built by Toyotomi Hidetsugu (daimyo and nephew to the country's ruler) as he constructed his castle and town, the channel went on to bring people and trade, helping significantly in the development of the region and neighboring towns. Almost filled in at times, this peaceful vein of water has been restored and protected by the efforts of the local population, and now makes a good place to stroll and take in the many preserved traditional buildings. • [Hachimanbori] itself is about 6km, except for those who ride on the "Suigo Tour" in most cases [Kawara Museum] from the precedent [Shinmachi Street] from the distance of about 200m to the boarding place at the north end, because it is only boarding on the [Hachimanbori tour], When I visited around 14:30 on Sunday, October 13, there were many tourists. Because it was a night [Omi Hachiman] on the day, I was able to enjoy the scenery of the quiet [Hachimanbori] which there was almost no crowd when I visited again around 17:00. If you want to enjoy the quiet scenery of Hachimanbori, we recommend that you take a walk in the evening. However, Many of the people who stroll around [Hachimanbori] will enjoy [Club Harrier Nissui Cafe] or [Nissui Chaya], but it is necessary to note that the last order is 17:00.

  • From the narrow sidewalk of the cherry trees, i walk on the stone sidewalk by the moat further. There was almost no flow of water, and the sightseeing boat was moving slowly. It is very good with the atmosphere.

  • beautiful street with Very old and traditional Japanese houses...the river side is amazing
  • Absolutely unique district. The preserved canal is so beautiful and attractive. We missed the blossoming period of sakura, otherwise it would be very nice to take a boat ride along the canal. It is place worthy of a second visit. Highly recommended.
