  自転車で上がれるところまで上がる。へとへとで最 後の階段、キツイ。今年一番のしんどさ、今年一番 の汗かき。それだけの価値は十分にある。 若山神社は水無瀬神宮と並んで島本町を代表する神 社。私がサイクリング途中に休憩させてもらってい る町の神社とは全然違う。社務所が開かれ神主が常 駐しているのは同じでも他の大きな神社とも違う。 山の中で少し寂れた観があるからだろうか、俗世界 と一線を画すオーラがあふれ出ている。山全体が鎮 守の森なのだ。建物では本殿が素晴らしい、屋根の 厚み重厚さ、町の中でなく山の中に建っていること に価値がある。境内は広くたくさんのベンチが置か れている。ハイキングの人達もここで休憩していく のだろう。石清水八幡宮にも自転車で上まで上がる が、ここは倍以上しんどい。夏は無理、次は秋か春 にします。

  歴史は平城京より古いらしい。URの団地の脇から10分ほど山を登った所にある。ひっそりという言葉がぴったりの古式ゆかしい神社。運動がてら参拝するのにちょうどいい。
