Shinmei Shrine, Toba

#1 of 26 in Historic Sites in Toba
Religious Site · Tourist Spot
Get in touch with your spiritual side at Shinmei Shrine, a shrine made up of two structures, which are recreations of the original buildings that once stood here. As you explore the site, find an oratory and a sanctum, which were created in the typical Shinto architectural style. Features include horizontal hornlike planks rising above the roof at both ends of the structure, as well as short logs, positioned at right angles, lining the ridge of the roof. At this shrine, women are granted a single wish by the presiding deity.
