    The Tsuwano Castle ruins was one of the highlights of visiting Tsuwano and I highly recommend coming here. There are a few options of getting to the top, you can hike or take a chair lift. It looks...  more »

    I took the 5 minute fairly basic chair lift (¥700 round trip or ¥400 one way) up the hill – it is quite close to ground for most of the way. As it was later in the afternoon, the staff on the chair.....  more »

    Amazing view. Some of the ruins were closed when we went. The trails are a little sketchy and not marked very well. I would not recommend trying to go down the one Mark bear territory

    Absolutely tranquil with amazing views of the surrounding mountains and sleepy village. The castle was destroyed as with many during the Edo to Meiji transition, but you can feel the history as you walk within the still intact walls. Definitely a refreshing part of rural historical Japan.
