Koryo Museum, Kaesong

#3 of 8 in Things to do in Kaesong
See over 1,000 relics and artifacts at Koryo Museum, which depicts the traditions and culture during Koryo dynasty rule. Once a Confucian educational school, the museum now offers exhibitions showing former buildings on the grounds and highlighting its architectural style through Korean history. Take a stroll around the spacious park with ancient trees, which surrounds the hut-like houses and small monuments. See the coffin of King Kongmin, which--though damaged--still features murals on the side. Because of its significant history, couples visit the site on their wedding day. Guides assist in translation of Korean documents. The site also includes a gift shop, which offers postcards, stamps, and other items. • We visited this beautiful place after the DMZ. Our guide has told us that this is the oldest Korean university. Everything is well restored and we have looked at the small exhibitions in the houses.
