Kick off your visit on the 24th (Tue): make a trip to Temple Bar, indulge your thirst for a good beer at Guinness Storehouse, and then browse the exhibits of Kilmainham Gaol. Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Isola di Burano and Basilica di Sant’Antonio - Basilica del Santo. Your inner history buff will appreciate Basilica di San Marco and St Mark's Campanile. Step out of Venice with an excursion to Scrovegni Chapel in Padua--about 42 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: appreciate the extensive heritage of St. Mark's Square, snap pictures at Ponte di Rialto, take a stroll through Campo del Ghetto, and contemplate the long history of Ponte dei Sospiri.

Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Siena Cathedral and Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore will appeal to history buffs. Change things up with a short trip to Piazza del Campo in Siena (about 1h 15 min away).
