In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sat): admire the striking features of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Duomo di Milano. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 16th (Sun): tour the pleasant surroundings at i Giardini di Villa Melzi, then get to know the fascinating history of Isola Comacina, and then explore the historical opulence of Villa del Balbianello.

Vienna, Austria to Milan is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. In July, Milan is a bit warmer than Vienna - with highs of 35°C and lows of 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Mon) early enough to drive to Rapallo.

As the Italian Riviera's largest town, Rapallo is noted for its castle perched above the sea and the colorful buildings that lead down the hill to the south-facing bay.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Tue): contemplate the long history of Santuario di Montallegro, then enjoy the sand and surf at San Michele di Pagana, and then steep yourself in history at Abbazia di San Fruttuoso.

Made up of five picturesque towns on the Ligurian coast, Cinque Terre is Italy's answer to the French Riviera.
