Explore inside El Pabellón de Barcelona, an iconic modernist building built for the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona. Admire Mies van der Rohe’s use of minimalist design, simple forms, and extravagant materials such as marble, red onyx, and travertine. Bear in mind that this incredibly modern-looking building was built over 80 years ago. Discover the famous Barcelona chair and the bronze reproduction of Georg Kolbe’s sculpture, “Alba.” Observe how the sculpture is reflected not only in the pond, but in the marble and glass, creating the sensation that it is multiplied. Browse the souvenir shop to pick up a book on Mies van der Rohe or one of his contemporaries. • Mies van Der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion represents a happy visual and mental break from the city's frenzy. Located in the beautiful area of the Montjuc Park, the Barcelona Pavilion is a must-visit for all tourists or travelers passing through the city. Despite its modest size, I still recommend that you take some time for your visit, so you can enjoy it in all its exceptional details and views.

  • You can literally sit here for 2 hours and just absorb the space and tranquility.
  • A must see for anyone architect or architectural student. The gift shop also has some great souvenirs too if you want to bring home a bit of mies. It's 10 euros to get in and you pay at the door. There wasn't many people when I went so I had the chance to sit and soak it all in when I was there.
