In the 18th century, freed slaves visited Grote Stadskerk to worship and express their gratitude. Started in 1774 and complete in 1847, the holy structure stands at 30 m (98 ft) tall. Walk inside to see an 11 m (36 ft) high nave accompanied by two galleries running along the walls of the upper floors. From the walls to the church organ, this holy structure is almost completely white inside and out.     I visited a sundaymorning service in june 2018. I was heartly welcomed the gate to the frontdoor. the sermon was as modest as the church's ambiance. A pleasant experience!  more »
