Trip Planner: Europe / Switzerland / Canton of Bern / Bernese Oberland / Grindelwald-Wengen-Murren-Lauterbrunnen / Lauterbrunnen / Staubbach Waterfall
Rumored to have been the inspiration for Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's poem, "Song of the Spirits over the Waters," Staubbach Waterfall stands nearly 300 m (984 ft) tall. The second-highest waterfall in the country, it is known for the spray of water in every direction due to the winds in the area. Walk the path up to the waterfall and go behind it for a view of the entire valley through the falls. Information boards offer the historical and scientific background of the area. Be sure to wear appropriate gear, as mist from the fall spreads far, and watch your step on the slippery paths. Make Staubbach Waterfall a centerpiece of your Lauterbrunnen vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Lauterbrunnen vacation planning website.

Staubbach Waterfall Reviews
We looked at the waterfall from the little viewing area. It was lit up at night, and was quite impressive even though the water flow was not at maximum. It was winter, so we could not walk closer... more »
Be careful of the wet rocks when you get close to the top! This was a nice small hike to get behind the lower section of the falls. Right on the edge of town. Easy to get to and was an enjoyable..... more »
Spectacular waterfall - Nature at its finest. Absolutely breathtaking in real life. I have just returned from a trip to Switzerland and this was one of my many highlights on the train to Jungfraujoch. As you come into Lauterbrunnen station you will catch a glimpse of the waterfall. It's only as you catch the next Jungfrau train that as you climb the incline, you get a tremendous view of the waterfall through the window, the top part which you can wind down as to not get reflection on your photographs. This picturesque place is literally one of those places that makes you gasp in pure amazement on coming into view.
The path to reach the top of falls lacks proper safety measures..other than that it was a thrilling experience
