Leading the post-independence development of the country, Chandigarh represents the first planned city built after the colonial-era ended.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Fri): get a sense of history and politics at Capitol Complex Tourist Centre and then walk around The Rock Garden of Chandigarh. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at Government Museum and Art Gallery, then contemplate the waterfront views at Sukhna Lake, then examine the collection at Museum Maison Jeanneret, and finally browse the different shops at Elante mall.

Guwahati to Chandigarh is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and bus; or drive. On the 14th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Amritsar.

A holy city, Amritsar stands as the spiritual and cultural capital of Sikhism, and the location of the religion's most revered and holiest shrine.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Sun): stop by India House. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Central Sikh Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Harmandir Sahib, take in the spiritual surroundings of Digamber Jain Temple, then make a trip to Jallianwala Bagh, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Gurudwara Shri Manji Sahib.
