Sitting at the foot of Mount Fuji, Hakone-machi has become a popular retreat from Tokyo for locals and tourists alike.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Hakone Ropeway as well as Lake Ashi (Ashinoko). Start off your visit on the 15th (Thu): explore the world behind art at The Hakone Open-Air Museum and then examine the collection at Lalique Museum Hakone. Known nationally as an industrial heartland, Nagoya boasts a far more cosmopolitan and cultural core than its reputation would lead you to believe.
On the 17th (Sat), step into the grandiose world of Nagoya Castle, thenmake a trip to Osu Shopping Street, and then wander the streets of Sakae. On the 18th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: buy something for everyone on your list at Aeon Mall Tokoname, thensee the interesting displays at Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, and then revel in the low prices at Toki Premium Outlets.

You can drive from Hakone-machi to Nagoya in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or fly. Traveling from Hakone-machi in March, expect nights in Nagoya to be about the same, around 7°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 13°C. On the 19th (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Kobe.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Thu): browse the different shops at Piole Himeji. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: stop by Miyuki Street, thenlook for gifts at Yamasa Kamaboko Yumesenkan, thenget engrossed in the history at Usukuchi Tatsuno Soy Sauce Museum, and finally stop by Michi-no-Eki Mitsu.
