The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
You'll explore and learn at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center and Kyoto International Manga Museum. Do some cultural sightseeing at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Nara Park. Change things up with a short trip to Dotombori District in Dotombori (about 1h 10 min away). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, go for a walk through Gion, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji.
